SERVICES
Dr. Bovell provides individual
therapy for adults. Dr. Bovell received a B.Sc. in
Psychology from the University of Toronto in 2001.
She then moved to Regina, Saskatchewan to complete an
M.A. in Clinical Psychology in 2005 and a Ph.D. in
Clinical Psychology in 2012. She also gained
valuable experience from a Pre-Doctoral Internship at
the University of Manitoba. Dr. Bovell is a
Psychologist registered with the College of
Psychologists of Ontario. She works as a Registered
Psychologist in private practice at Markham
Psychologists.
APPROACH
Dr. Bovell has training and
experience with Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT),
Client-Centered Therapy (Rogerian Therapy),
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Acceptance and
Commitment Therapy (Mindfulness Therapy). She tailors
treatment to the individual needs and abilities of
clients and works with clients as a ‘co-investigator’ to
examine life problems and find attainable goals and
solutions. Dr. Bovell uses effective treatments that are
supported by scientific research evidence.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Dr. Bovell has experience using
Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and
Commitment Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and
Client-Centered Therapy to treat depression, stress and
generalized anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD),
obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), health anxiety,
panic attacks and panic disorder, and adjustment
difficulties. She incorporates cultural sensitivity into
her practice. Dr. Bovell also has experience with
clinical interviewing, adult diagnosis, and intellectual
assessments.
As part of her graduate training, Dr.
Bovell has worked with adult clients in mental health
clinics and hospitals, university students, veterans,
new and expecting mothers, rehabilitation clients, and
individuals in the criminal justice system.
ABOUT
Dr. Bovell grew up in Scarborough
Ontario and continues to reside there. She has interests
in physical fitness, health, green living,
Do-It-Yourself (DIY) projects, spending time with
friends, reading, journaling, and watching films.
